Welcome to the Active Design Webinar

The rigours of everyday life can make us inactive. Time, money, access, family commitments are some of the reasons why as a nation about a third of adults do not do enough weekly exercise. It is widely appreciated that embracing a lifestyle change to be more active each week can have astronomical benefits to our physical and mental health as well as the prosperity of our local communities.

Shaping our communities to create active environments has been proven to enhance active lifestyles. Active Design moulds together a vision, planning and the many considerations that need to be adopted when designing the spaces and places we live in.

Active Design incorporates 10 key principles that promote activity, health and help build sustainable and robust communities. The principles are - Activity for all neighbourhoods, walkable communities, connected walking and cycling routes, co-location of community facilities, a network of multi-functional open spaces, high-quality streets and spaces, appropriate infrastructure, active buildings, management maintenance, monitoring and evaluation, activity promotion and local champions.

During this webinar you will learn;

  • Latest funding and investment opportunities

  • Integrated infrastructure

  • Case studies of successful projects

  • The sectors commitment to long and impactful change
